No Amtrak, not the dining car!
I just read a story by the Washington Post reporting that Amtrak has decided to discontinue the dining car on routes east of the Mississippi starting this fall.
How sad, this is one the last vestiges of true ‘travel’ experiences left in the modern world.

As you head out of Vancouver and into the narrows, it gets quite blustery. Especially in front of the windscreen.
Then in the narrowest part – beautiful!

Family Travel Adventures
This blog is about our family travel adventures. We don’t travel a lot, and we don’t travel far very often. Mostly around Arizona and, yes, like many folks from Arizona, to Southern California. Arizona tourists are so plentiful in Southern California that we have a nickname ‘zonies’. We zonies need to escape the heat somewhere, and California is within a day’s drive of Phoenix or Tucson, our state’s largest cities. But we also have the White Mountains and New Mexico, as well as Flagstaff and Colorado.
I’m going to start with something besides day trips and long car rides. I’m going to start with a personal bucket list item of my own. This trip from a few years back was the inspiration for this blog.

Welcome to our journey
Welcome to Sunny’s Travels – this is the story of our family’s travels. Once I semi-retired, I asked my wife if I could start a travel blog using her nickname as the title for the site and the blog, and so the journey begins.
